Global Wellness Day: A Sacred Return to Self

What if wellness wasn’t a trend, but a homecoming?

Not a to-do list of green juices and morning routines, but a quiet remembering.

Of who you are beneath the overwhelm.

Of what safety feels like inside your body.

Of how good it feels to simply be here, fully.

Today, on Global Wellness Day, we are invited; not to perform peace, but to return to it. To claim moments of regulation, reflection, and real nourishment in a world that asks us to hustle, numb, and disconnect.

At Keep Aligning Within, we believe wellness isn’t performative. It’s personal. It’s nervous system first. And, It’s sacred.

Wellness That Begins in the Body

So many of us have been taught that healing begins in the mind. But for those of us with trauma, chronic stress, or burnout…the body must come first.

We must begin not with “positive thinking” but with grounding.

With breath.

With rest.

With a long exhale and a soft place to land.

Because until the nervous system feels safe, the soul can’t speak clearly.

Try This Somatic Ritual Today

Wherever you are, begin with stillness. Place your hand on your heart and your other on your belly.

Feel the weight.

The warmth.

The you-ness of this moment.

Take a slow breath in through your nose.

Exhale through your mouth with a gentle sigh.

Repeat three times.

Now, ask yourself:

What would it feel like to be well, not just today, but every day?

Don’t rush the answer. Let your body speak first.

Wellness You Can Taste: 3 Recipes for Calm

In honor of today, I’m sharing 3 of my favorite nervous system-friendly recipes from my upcoming Claim Your Calm Lifestyle Cookbook. These are more than meals, they’re grounding rituals for low cortisol living.

1. The Sacred Lemon Balm Tea

A cup of calm for anxious hearts

Flavor: Light, herbal, and gently floral

Benefits: Lemon balm soothes the nervous system and supports restful sleep.

Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp dried lemon balm

  • 1 tsp chamomile (optional)

  • 1 cup hot water

  • 1 slice fresh lemon

  • Honey to taste

Instructions: Steep herbs in hot water for 5–7 minutes. Add lemon slice and honey. Sip slowly, with intention. Let this be a pause, not just a beverage.

2. Creamy Coconut Adrenal Reset Smoothie

A nervous system reset in a glass

Flavor: Creamy, vanilla, hint of cinnamon

Benefits: Packed with magnesium, potassium, and healthy fats to lower cortisol.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup coconut milk

  • 1 frozen banana

  • 1 tbsp almond butter

  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

  • 1/4 tsp sea salt

  • 1 scoop collagen (optional)

Instructions: Blend all ingredients until smooth. Sip as a mid-morning ritual to nourish from the inside out.

3. Grounding Berry Chia Pudding

A spoonful of softness when everything feels too much

Flavor: Sweet, tart, deeply satisfying

Benefits: Chia seeds are high in omega-3s for brain and mood support.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup almond or oat milk

  • 3 tbsp chia seeds

  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1/2 cup mashed or blended strawberries

  • Maple syrup to taste

Instructions: Mix milk, chia seeds, and vanilla. Let sit 5 minutes, stir again, then refrigerate 2+ hours. Top with blended berries and a drizzle of maple syrup.

Today, Choose You

Global Wellness Day is not about doing more, it’s about doing differently.

It’s an invitation to say yes to presence.

Yes to rest.

Yes to softness.

Yes to the you who exists beneath the stress.

Whether you take one breath, one bite, or one slow walk outside, let it count. Let it be enough.

You don’t have to wait to feel well. The return begins now.
